For its 18th edition, the festival explores the theme “Portraits: Moments of Humanity” and welcomes Alain Laboile as its guest of honor at the Théâtre de l’Hôtel de Ville. The first photographic portraits emerged in the early 19th century with the daguerreotype, a groundbreaking invention that revolutionized image reproduction with its remarkable fidelity.

How do we approach portrait photography today? Whether it’s an individual portrait—posed or staged—a group portrait, an anthropological study, or a social documentary, does portraiture aim to provoke, inform, engage, or make us reflect?

25 photographers and 4 collectives share their perspectives on this theme, with exhibitions spread across 20 locations, guiding visitors through an urban route from Le Havre to Sainte-Adresse.

Are You Experiencing 2025 introduces 9 new exhibition venues, a partnership with MCH for a dedicated conference, hands-on photography workshops, and collaborations with local schools.
